The Situation

Two businesses — a digital marketing agency and a car sales business — owned by the same two directors. Both in Bolton, both growing fast, and neither with much in the way of HR.

The managers weren't confident managing people. No one-to-ones, no career paths, no real structure for anyone to develop into. With more than 25 staff across the two businesses, that was starting to cause problems.

And they had a team over in the US, which comes with a completely different rulebook on employment law. Not something you want to be guessing at from Bolton.
